Stoneybrook is mainly a residential neighbourhood just east of Masonville Mall. The housing in the area is predominantly single family homes built from the 1960s to 1980s. There are also some townhouse complexes and a group of high-rise apartment buildings on Windermere Road. Stoneybrook is close to both the Masonville Mall commercial area as well as the shopping centre on the corner of Adelaide Street and Fanshawe Park Road.
Stoneybrook is home to the Stoney Creek Valley - South East natural area, which has beautiful trails and many connections to streets in the neighbourhood. The Stoney Creek Valley connects to Hastings Park, which also has many paved walking trails, as well as tennis courts and soccer fields. The neighbourhood is also home to the Stoney Creek off-leash dog park.
Stoneybrook Public School is located in the centre of the neighbourhood, backing onto Hastings Park. Students also attend St. Kateri Catholic School, and A.B. Lucas and Mother Teresa secondary schools.
