University Heights is a mainly residential neighbourhood near Western University. The subdivision west of Western Rd. has 1970s and 1980s era single detached homes, as well as a couple high-rise apartments. The area to the east of Platt’s Lane has older single family homes, as well as a number of student-oriented townhouse complexes. There are also a number of Western University residences in the neighbourhood.
Chesham Heights Park is located in the neighbourhood and has a play structure, swing set, basketball court, and soccer field. University Heights Park also has a play structure, swing set, and soccer field, along with a wading pool and community garden. On the banks of the Thames River is Waldorf Park, which has great trails, as well as lawn bowling facilities.
In addition to some buildings on the Western University campus, including the Faculty of Education, there are two schools in University Heights, the London Waldorf School, a private elementary school, and University Heights Public School. Students also attend St. Thomas More Catholic Elementary School, and Sir Frederick Banting, Central, H.B. Beal, or St. André Bessette secondary schools.
